Reviews for Hillcroft Holiday Park, Ulverston, Lake District, UK

Straddling the River Eamont at the head of Ullswater, Pooley Bridge is the stunning lake side location for Hillcroft Holiday Park in the heart of Cumbria on the eastern fringes of England's Lake District.

Walking, cycling, fishing, sailing, relaxing or discovering the heritage of this location, Hillcroft Holiday Park is perfectly situated and easily accessible.

Away from the park the nearby Rheged Visitor Centre at Penrith, provides an innovative underground visitor centre on seven levels, including, a showcase of shops, restaurants and a six storey high cinema screen

Plentiful areas to explore and cruises on Ullswater are only walking distance away from the park and the beautiful backdrop of the Lakes provides an abundance of activities and visits within the surrounding area.

With many facilities on offer both within the park and in the surrounding area, this location is ideally situated for your countryside holiday.

The accommodation and location were excellent, the staff were friendly and happy to help. We took our 2 year old and 4 month old, so we hired a highchair and travel cot - excellent quality, and we couldn't get our son out of the park! Wtunning views of lake Ullswater from our lodge, there was nothing more you could ask for. A very enjoyable anniversary and birthday break! We will be coming back!

Lovely holiday park. Accommodation was very clean. Kitchen was well equipped.

Overall holiday was good.

Nice, clean, spacious lodge with friendly environment. Walking distance to the Ullswater Steamers allows a great day out without the need to drive.

This park and accommodation were excellent. The park was clean and well maintained, as was the accommodation which had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this park and the accommodation.

The holiday was lovely, thank you. The only thing was could have done with a bit more information on things to do while we were there, xxx.

I found Hillcroft location excellent and within walking reach of the village, therefore car is not a must. You have walks and boats at your doorstep!!. Also the accommodation in the lodges was great, from home to home with nice furnishings and warm atmosphere. The park for the children make it excellent for families with young children. Overall experience was great.

Accommodation furnished to a high standard and very clean and comfortable. Exceptional views from balcony on lodge we stayed in but if you have young children you may wish to ask for a lodge at bottom of site overlooking play park. Had a wonderful holiday and would recommend to anyone wanting to explore this part of the Lake District.

Fantastic Park in an ideal setting, many walks from the park. Ullswater Steamers & Pooley Bridge village within a 10 minute stroll.

Amazing accommodation, furnished to a high spec with great outdoor space which was good for children.

A lovely quiet site in a beautiful location. Safe for the children to play and very relaxing for all of us. Great quality accommodation.

I would definitely recommend this site and holiday and I already have. Cannot fault it. Will be booking again very soon, for sure.

Very cosy accommodation with fantastic views of Ullswater. Pooley Bridge is a nice quaint village too.

Lovely well kept site, very clean, staff really friendly and helpful, great location with wonderful views, would not hesitate to stay in the future.

This was our second visit to Hillcroft, the high standards of the staff and accommodation from last year were still maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

I would highly recommend this park to anyone, great location with a stunning view of Lake Ulswater from our lodge which we adored. Lovely lodge to stay in.

Hillcroft Holiday Park is fantastic, the lodge was everything we expected it to be, even had a Christmas tree. The location of the park is great, a 10 minute walk to Pooley Bridge village where there are 3 village pubs, the Sun Inn was great and served good food. Would recommend and certainly will be going back.

Good value for money and excellent accommodation.

Accommodation warm and cosy even for November - excellent site for exploring Ullswater out of season. Park had a fireworks party which residents were invited to and which we thoroughly enjoyed and we even received a free glass of wine. Staff very friendly. We would highly recommend this site.

Lovely views, peace & quiet yet only 5 minute to the village of Pooley Bridge & under 1/2 hour from nearest town/shopping centre. Walks from the door up on to the hills & the picturesque Lake Ullswater within 15 minutes walk.

For general location for moving around the Lakes, it is excellent. It is in a less busy area than, say, Bowness. That is a plus for anybody looking for peace and quiet and still able to access the busier areas when you want to.

Such a lovely place, well presented, easy to access to the lake on foot, child friendly, private, high standard accommodation, staff, people staying on the park, locals are friendly, nice place to eat.

Such a lovely place, well presented, easy to access to the lake on foot, children friendly, private, high standard accomodation, staff, people stay in the park, local are friendly, nice place to eat.

The park is well situated and the staff are very friendly. The bungalow we stayed in is very modern and clean and has excellent views across the lovely countryside.

The Hillcroft Holiday Park was clean, well kept with very friendly and helpful staff, set in a beautiful location. When we went the park was peaceful and tranquil. Our overall experience of Pooley Bridge and surrounding area left us with a longing to come back.

Well maintained peaceful and relaxing site in a wonderful location. Stayed in one of the new lodges and could not fault the accommodation, or the view. Would certainly recommend for a 'get away from it all break'.

Our accommodation was fabulous and within close proximity of the childrens playground which kept everyone happy. The location of the site in the Lake District also meant that we were within easy reach of all the local attractions. The accommodation together with excellent weather meant that we were able to enjoy our evening meals outside for the whole week. The Site Warden was very helpful and security was very good as the gate was locked each evening and the site was only accessible via a swipe card system. I would thoroughly recommend this holiday to any family who enjoy the Lakes.

"We have just returned from an excellent week in the Lakes. We stayed in a lodge at Hillcrof..."

We have just returned from an excellent week in the Lakes. We stayed in a lodge at Hillcroft Holiday park which we only booked a few weeks ago for the Spring Bank Holiday. The lodge was fantastic, new and clean, and the atmosphere at the park was just what we needed - relaxed, easy going and we will certainly be booking again. The kids loved the adventure playground and couldn't wait to go and play there, even after we'd dragged them on a 6 mile hike! We walked into the village most nights to the local pubs to sample the local food and beverages - The Sun was particularly good for food, all three served good hand pulled ales. We took a boat trip to Glenridding on the Ullswater Steamer which gave an opportunity to see the fantastic scenery. We also went to Aira Force waterfalls which are about 6 miles away - unfortunately the week passed far too quick!

Location was excellent, lodge decorated and equipped to a high standard, very clean, staff friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend a holiday at Hillcroft Holiday Park.

The park was in a beautiful location and Meadow Bank cottage was of an excellent standard, fully equipped, nicely decorated and impeccably clean. I would recommend this holiday to families and couples alike, we've had a wonderful time and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Great location, site and accommodation. Ideal for families and just a short walk to the stunning Lake Ullswater. We will be back.

We stayed in the Cottage/Bungalow building on site and were not quite sure what to expect. We were very happy with the accommodation as it was very spacious, modern and had all the facilities we required. In addition the view over to Ullswater was stunning. The park itself is well located just a short walk into Pooley Bridge which has a few shops, pubs and the Ullswater Steamer boat making trips across the lake.

It is an excellent position to get around the Lake District and a welcome, relaxing place to return to. The view from the windows is truly exceptional.

Great holiday, fabulous accommodation in a great location.

Thought the accommodation was fantastic and Derek and his wife who run it were really friendly and helpful. I would definitely return again and would recommend it to others.

Brilliant site, we went as a family with 2 teenagers and it was a totally relaxing holiday, to chill out just before exams start- and it really worked no mention of exams all week-great- just what the doctor ordered!!!! Excellent lodge, brand new, can't wait to go back soon.

Brilliant location and lovely caravan.

We wanted a restful, peaceful holiday - and that is exactly what we got. It was our 2nd visit to Hillcroft Holiday Park and the exact same high standards were delivered on our 2nd visit as they were on our 1st. Excellent, we couldn't fault it!

I can fully recommend this holiday, the accommodation was extremley nice, warm and welcoming and the park staff were very helpful. The area is oustandingly beautiful and many thanks for a super holiday.

The park is situated close to Pooley Bridge giving us easy access to the village amenities. It was great for walking from the door with Ullswater being so close. The staff in reception were really helpful on check in, and ever though we didn't need their help during our stay, I'm sure they would have catered for our every need.

This park has only a few holiday caravans but is a lovely quiet and immaculate site. No improvement needed.

I can certainly recommend this park at Pooley Bridge.

I would recommend this holiday as the park is kept lovely and quiet, the caravans are nice and new, it is only 10 minutes walk from Pooley Bridge and it is very central.

It was fantastic and we loved every second - from waking to crows in the nearby trees to sitting on the balcony watching stars at night!

Definitely coming back as the location was superbly situated.

The caravan was excellent, so was the site and very well maintained, only 10 mins. walk into Pooley Bridge and the steamer round the lake, very good holiday would come back.

Lovely well and well maintained site. Caravan was spotless and very roomy. Nice village 5 minutes walk away. Overall we were very impressed.

Our holiday was from 21st the 25th of September, wish we had booked longer now, it was perfect, fantastic location, beautiful surroundings, friendly park staff, caravan that looked like it had never been used ever! We will be back and will be asking for the same caravan.

A quiet park, just what we were looking for.

Value for money, a high standard of accommodation and a no hassle holiday.

Hillcroft is a lovely caravan park in a good location, just 10 minutes walk into village and the park has a lovely play area for the children.

The location was perfect, within walking distance to the village, yet very peaceful. The standard of accommodation was superb and our caravan in particular was immaculate. My young son was able to play out safely and made lots of friends.

Hillcroft was fantastic! The park is very new, in a lovely location and very quiet and peaceful. The caravan was very high quality and the welcome was great with lovely staff who were very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly recommend this park and we will definitely be returning.

Hillcroft was just lovely. We stopped in a very high quality caravan with a lovely decking area in the very peaceful setting amongst the fields and hills. We were surprised we were given such a new caravan due to us bringing our dog, which made a lovely change from other parks we've stayed in where you are given the older caravans if you bring a dog. The park was a 10 minute walk from Pooley Bridge village centre that had plenty of friendly pubs, shops and tea rooms. A great starting point for many of the fell and lakeside walks and Ullswater Steamer pier. Just a 10 minute drive from Penrith Junstion 40 off M6 so really easy to get to and other places to visit while you're there. Highly recommended and we will definitley be returning.

The park was set in a lovely location, was beautifully clean and tidy and most of all, nice and quiet and it felt private. Ideal for couples with a young family.

An exceptionally clean caravan park with the added luxury of each caravan having its own private decking with table umbrella and chairs, ideal for eating al fresco or that relaxing evening drink. The site is very very quiet, ideal for a relaxing holiday. The caravans are all new and exceptionally clean, and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly.Ideal location for that leisurely cruise along Lake Ullswater, short walk to Pooley Bridge which is a very quaint village, with a few shops and public houses and hotels. Caravan park is near Penrith which has excellent choices for shopping and groceries.
Close to A66 which is one of the main routes to most of the tourist attractions.

Hillcroft is a fantastic park and the views are spectacular. It was quiet and very safe for the young children we had with us, we were well accommodated and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I would highly recommend this park to anyone who wants a peaceful holiday. It was immaculately kept and the the caravans were spotless. It was a definite home from home and we shall definitely be returning!

The area is clean and well maintained and there is an excellent playground for young children. It is only a 10 minute drive from the A66, which is a good place for a brief stopover.

We have just returned from enjoyable 3 night stay at Hillcroft. Thought we had been allocated the wrong caravan at first because it was brand new (labels still on everything) with a lovely decking area with outdoor seating. An immaculate park with friendly staff, very quiet but with a good shop. Only 200 yards from the village centre where good quality pubs outnumber the shops. Lake and steamers are within easy walking distance.
