We spent a week in Side and have a lovely time. The staff in hotel Oz were so friendly, the meals were good and varied every day.

Evening entertainment was a bit poor but then we did go mid April which was out of season.

The rooms were very spacious and cleaned every day we particularly liked the way they did the bedding one day they had made a swan out of the towels.

The site of the hotel was in easy walking distance to the beach and the local shops all of which we enjoyed.

If myself and my husband had have bielived the reviews that had been writen before we went, well we were quite suprised.

Lovely pool, food very good, the chef is excellent, rooms very clean, granted the glasses that you got ur drinks in were warm, but im sure that this could be sorted.

Overall you cant please everyone but very good value for money.

"I went with my mum for a week of rest and found the hotel met all our needs for the money th..."

I went with my mum for a week of rest and found the hotel met all our needs for the money that we could spend.

The food was a bit repetitive but always tasted fresh and well prepared. Both mum and I are always keen to try the local cuisine where ever we are and it didn't disapoint. We were not after english food (Chips) or fry ups in the morning and as the guides say it does serve Turkish food.

The boys that work downstairs work long hours and they always seemed friendly and helpfull. The tables were always cleared very quickly so no flies. The female member of bar staff was not always so smiley.

If you arrive at night the night porter is a bit strange, he will carry your bags to your room, and then just stand there waiting for a tip, we gave him about £2 in sterling this seemed to satisfy him. I believe that he will take any currency though. Have £14 sterling for the safe, this is not refundable but is worth the cost.

The room was basic which suited us, it was clean and practical although a chest of drawers would have been usefull. The beds were comfy and even though we were above the front doors it was quiet at nightime.

The location is great for getting around, it was very central with a max 25 min walk into Side town for the shops. Although most of Side favours the German and Dutch holiday makers we were made to feel very welcome by the shops and restuarants.

I would highly recommend the in house Turkish Bath and massage as it is very competitively priced without having to spend time on a bus or Dolmus to get there. I had some issues with my health due to the flight, it was great to have someone trained in massage on-site to assist me and enable me to get on with my holiday pain free, for which I would like to say thank you for.

The Thomas cook rep was lovely and always there when she was meant to be, I would advise that you do not book the excursions immedieatly on the introducion morning as they can be a bit pricey and better deals can be done through the guys that are independant we saved 30 Euros on the boat trip by booking independantly.

There isn't much for children to do but the pool is safe and shallow for them, the food that is served is also for adults, but they did have a microwave for heating bottles!

Overall we had a supberb time for the money that we paid, and it met our needs, I would go back but not any later than July as the humidity can be awful.

My best advise is that if you want multi cultural foods (pizza, chips, burgers) and a greater selection of drinks then your best option would be to pay more the 5 star hotels that are available. As a non drinker it was refreshing to know that they actually use Coca Cola (coke) branded drinks instead of vile local subsitutes.

I would definately reccomend this as a lower budget hotel, but do take money for food if you are there for 2 weeks as some variety may be required.

"On the whole the hotel had some good points and very poor points.

On the whole the hotel had some good points and very poor points.

We had hot meals evreyday, however, chicken was on the menu too often.
The rooms where a little small but where very clean.
The pool was only cleaned once a day before it opened.
Waiters were smiling and helpful.

The bar staff on my first week was a boy and a girl. Neither of them smiled. Towards the end of the all inclusive period they would not serve you unless you brought up a glass.

This next instance is very disturbing.
A mother we got friendly with had A boy of 15 who was sliding down the slide incorrectly acccrding to a female member of staff. He was told off the first time, but the second time, the hotel manager run across to him, poked him in the chest and grabbed his arm. This was assault.

There is no way on earth anybody should get away with this appalling behavour.
It might be a fact that he went down the slide incorrectly, but the staff did nothing about children under 10 using the slide.

Well, just got back form Hotel Ozside this morning
Heres the good bits....The pool is cleaned every morning and water samples are taken throughout the day.
There is a slide for the children.
The rooms although on the smallish side are well cleaned every day and bed linen changed daily.
The air-con is free.

Now the not so good bits....The waiting staff look as miserable as sin, the only ones who could raise a smile were the chefs who served the hot food at meal times.
The all- inclusive description is debatable...the choice of drinks are vodka, raki, beer, gin and red or white wine, there are soft drinks too from a dispenser or from the 'bar' served from more miserable looking staff.

The entertainment was almost non-existant bar a belly dancer on the wed night and a fire eater on the fri night. There was a pool table there but that was 8TLira for an hour which should really have been free.
The pool was open from about 08.30 till 18.30 but the slide was only open from 11.00 till 12.00 and again from 15.00 till 17.00 so not ideal.

Ok,now for the food, there was plenty of salad stuff of various descriptions and I suspect that some leftovers were put into the next days dishes, there was various chicken dishes and fish dishes. It was edible but it was just so repetitive by the end of the 2 weeks we ate out just for something different.Yes I know you go on holiday to try new things foodwise butthers a limit on how much of the same thing you can eat.

As for the flies, God they were everywhere when you were trying to eat,I know we were almost in the middle east and you expect them but there was only 1 insect killer in the whole restuarant and it was only on the once that I saw.

I think its a bit ambitious of Thomas Cook to call this hotel a 3 star,I'd say 2 star + at best. The All- inclusive package is definitely not worth it and I would recommend taking a little extra money for eating out just in case.

Side is a great resort and I will go back but not to the Ozside.
In writing this review my aim is not to discourage you if you are going but just to prepare you what to expect.

"Myself and partner have just returned after a last minute break to Oz Side, at first impress..."

Myself and partner have just returned after a last minute break to Oz Side, at first impression i thought where the hell are we going, seem to be beind a housing area and next to a dual carrigeway (local road)

The reception was clean and tidy and after checking in and been showing are rooms we were quite happy as they were clean.

The food at the hotel is limited only turkish, continental breakfast but we found something to eat and didnt starve. The portions the dish up to you (main meals are not help yourself) are small and they dont like you asking for more.

The one thing i did like about the meals were the desserts...mmmmmmmm. Very good cakes and puddings.

The bar !!well its open early and closes early 10.30pm after that you have to pay for your drinks, whih again are limited what you can have on all inclusive.

The pool is not too bad but 1 bit of advice get up early to get a sun bed these are limited....

"First all inclusive holiday we as a family have been on, if that is all inclusive, never aga..."

First all inclusive holiday we as a family have been on, if that is all inclusive, never again, food disgusting, no snacks for children had 2 buy ice cream from shop up the street, no snackbar as shown in brochure, only snack was given at 4pm that was afternoon tea and cake.

Food very repetetive and verged on slop, leftover food from day before served in a sauce either for breakfast or at lunchtime, great if you love salad plenty of it, miserable chef who threw food on youre plate, turkish waiters ran ragged and always looked tired, unpleasant barman, bar closed at 10.30pm.

Lots of dutch in hotel who were very friendly and have used the hotel for last 5 years, english guests very disgruntled as dutch were given preferential treatment, this caused friction.

Rooms clean, small, very basic. If anyone decides to come to this hotel with kids beware as there is only slide in pool for them which is switched on twice daily, beach is lovely and staff are great there and cant do enough to make you feel welcome, plenty of sunbeds too unlike back at hotel had to be up 5.30am if you needed a sunbed, take plenty money to back you up, as you will need it if you dont like the grub thats served up..

I will go back to Turkey with my family but never ever to this hotel...

Most unfriendly staff, never spoke in the week we were there, if you are not up at 7am then forget about a sun lounger, the towels are left on them all day while they are away shopping leaving the rest of us to lie on the ground. food was chicken most nights with rice, not a great choice if you have children with you. the rooms were clean but basic we had no bin , no ashtray and no seats on the balcony , the bathroom light kept going off and the hairdryer worked for about two minutes at a time. i would never go back to this hotel ever again.

"Unfriendliest resort in Turkey also the staff at the hotel. Food was absolutely disgusting ..."

Unfriendliest resort in Turkey also the staff at the hotel. Food was absolutely disgusting and inedible, no quality or quantity. We paid for half board but had to eat out for breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Tour rep was useless so was her manager. Water was only available for All/inclusive guests, other guests had to pay for their water. You were not allowed to drink bottled water that you bought at the ajoining shop with your meals, had to be bought from the Hotel. 57 sunbeds for 200 guests. 40 tables to eat your meals off, guests were eating off their laps sat on sun beds around the pool. No nightly entertaiment as advertised in brochure. Last evening there the hotel had a bbq, thought we would try the food, chicken tasted not right so myself granddaughter did not eat any of the food. My daughter did and was ill all night with sickness and diarrhoea and all the way home the following day. My advice is DO NOT GO TO THAT HOTEL. The hotel owner was the most miserable unwelcoming man you could meet.

The Hotel was fine, the usual bare esentials in the rooms has you get all over Turkey but very clean, the cleaning girls were brilliant (friendly & always smiling). the rest of the staff were the most misserable people we have ever
met in Turkey, never smiled in two weeks (honest ! ).. maybe due to the guy who was running things, (Colonel Klink 'ex-Gestapo' ,I think, lol)!. He stopped at least 4 guests while we were there, he took them into his office and told them 'they were not allowed to take ANY kind of food or drink into their appartments that had not been bought in Hotel(we have NEVER come accross this before in any counrty we have been to).. he even stopped one young couple who were bringing bottled water in ! the prices in the Hotel were very high compared with the other Hotels and retaurants in the area ie: beer(Hotel)£2-pnt..Others £1.25-pnt.
cooked breakfast (Hotel)£4.. Outside £2.50... The Sunset Rep (Laura Sheilds a young Scotish girl) is lovely, always smiling pleasant and helpful, petty the
Hotel staff can't be the same !..Resort: there are lots of historic ruins in the area for those who have an interest in that sort of thing, there are two clean beaches, one at each side of the town (one more natural the other more touristy) the town itself is nothing to write home about and caters entirely for the Scandinavians (Sweden,Denmark,Norway) their flags are flying over all the Hotels, (the Brits thought they were all Germans, but their not, their language just sounds similar)..'now' I've left the best while last!,
'The Food'...after trying a few of the restaurants (all good food and reasoably priced).. we found a Resaurant that we used every night from the third night of our two week holiday.. we tried most of the dishes and every one we had were superb ( I am not joking, they were delicious ! ),.. the Restaurant is just along the road from the Hotel Oz Side and is called 'Hehmet's Restaurant ..you can get a 'Turkish Pan' for 2 people for £2.75p per person. (served at your table with the flames burning under it)!.. ALL the lads at the 'Monica's Resaurant' are great fun with a brilliant sense of humour (THE place to chill out & have a few Beers(Troy)!),.SOME entertainment on some nights at the 'Side Resort Hotel' and beer at £1.25p-pnt.. we met some lovely people in Side (Gail & Peter from Stockport and Elizabeth & Peter for The Wirral)..WE won't be returning to Side but would like to wish future visitors a very happy holiday.
