Before i went to this hotel i read many reviews saying that you shouldnt go to this hotel etc, i am so glad i didnt pay attention to these reviews as i could not fault this hotel in the slightest.

It was clean, the staff were very friendly, the pool area was gorgeous and it was situated not that far from the main street.

I spent 2 weeks here and it was amazing i would go back and infact me and my partner are going to book for next year.

Hisaronu is a gorgeous area and i would recommend that you should go to the loft bar as it has a great atmosphere and the staff are amazing.

Defo 10/10 for this holiday - do not be put off by bad reviews!!!!

"Just got back, so writing some notes down while its still fresh. Turkey is hot, thats a shoc..."

Just got back, so writing some notes down while its still fresh. Turkey is hot, thats a shock! If you don't expect that, don't go to turkey! Hotel is well set / shadey / side of a hill with a nice breeze etc, lovely pool, great staff - cleaners, waiters, managers etc etc.

Bit surprised to read other reviews on here. If you are surprised that staff in a resort want to make money out of tourists then perhaps going abroad is too much for you.

The food was english, that would be my only complaint. They tried too hard to please us and give us what we want. So if you want more variety or turkish food go into town where there is every possible type of food available, but shock you have to pay for it!! that might upset the tight arse's that don't like paying for things.

The pool was well managed and supervised, which considering they say that they don't oversee this is pretty fair. The staff were considerate and understanding without being pushy at all.

If you think the shift manager bringing a trolley loaded with delicious turkish cakes around the pool in mid afternoon blatent commercialism, then I was guilty of falling for it and gladly joined in and ordered some. Mega cakes for under £2 each welcome relief and added fun, 'not being ripped off!'

The plastic card tab for paying, meant we could order what we wanted, when we wanted and avoided us carrying cash around the poolside / sun loungers, erm excuse me, dosn't this help with with safety. We ordered what we wanted and could afford and no point pushed to have more than that.

The staff made our holiday, polite, funny and very respectfull. There was a complete mix of appropriate staff at each point of the operation, so no problems at all for us. If some bits are a bit like basil fawlty, that just made it more fun and help provide entertainment.

Would we go again, yes probably would. But then again life's too short and there are lot's of places to visit and see. Turkey is hot and that brings its own issues, so just beware of that part.

Cheers kevo

"We actually booked for the Telmessos, but knew beforehand we may be put in the Marcan if it&..."

We actually booked for the Telmessos, but knew beforehand we may be put in the Marcan if it's sister hotel was fully booked. What can I tell you about this hotel? It's very clean. The bar staff are friendly. The resident photographer, Ferat, is fabulous. That's about as positive as it gets...and believe me I tried to find nice things to say.

The front counter staff have obviously taken a course from the Basil Fawlty school of hotel management. The main reception is hot and stuffy and could do with some air conditioning. This would be especially helpful for your last day, because, if like us, you are being picked up for your return journey at midnight - you still have to vacate your room by midday, and this is where you will have to sit for twelve hours.

Unless they can find a spare room for you (no guarantee) to store your suitcases - at a charge of £20.00 - which was £15.00 when we arrived - but the price was increased during our stay. Extra charges are abundant at this hotel.

Extra charge for air con (essential when the temprature is in the plus forties), extra charge to use a safe - which is in the main reception hall in full view of everyone and not in the hotel room where it should logically be placed. Extra charge to play a game of pool (in spite of the fact that the manager is too mean to invest in chalk for the cues).

Also - you are not allowed to bring food or drink into the hotel from outside. Even a bottle of water! We actually witnessed someone have their illicit bottle confiscated from them by the charming chaps at reception. You have to buy your water from the bar which is up to 75% more expensive than in Hisaronu.

You can of course store this in your fridge - if you've paid extra for one. Breakfast is repetitive. It is also served outside. By the time you get down in the morning your breakfast food will be swarming with wasps. You can have cooked breakfast if you want - but, of course, it's extra.

The food from the resident chef is edible. However - beware if you are pespetarian - like my wife is. She ordered a seafood pasta dish and confirmed there was no meat in it. When it was served up it contained salami. We pointed this out to the waiter who insisted 'Is not meat - is salami!' We explained the difference to him between meat and vegetables and he took the meal back to the chef who then began picking the pieces of salami out of the dish in order to return it to us without pig meat!

When we explained that this simply wouldn't do they looked at us as if we were mad. Actually, by that point we might have been inclined to agree with them. Only a madman would put up with this unprofessional behaviour.

If taking a shower you can't be sure the temperature of the water is going to stay constant. Not a major problem if it just ran hot and cold but it doesn't. It runs from scalding hot to ice cold in a matter of seconds. I suppose it's one way to wake up in the morning.

Oh yeah, that's assuming the water doesn't go off completely: It did three times in the first week. The second time my wife was in the shower - having just covered herself in soap and put shampoo in her hair - there was no water to rinse it off. It was ten minutes before it came on again.

The hotel advertises Sky Plus, BBC and ITV for the television (note - singular). They don't have it. One of the staff told us (although it may have been tongue in cheek) the reason for this is they hadn't paid the bill.

One afternoon my son left his towel on a lounger round by the pool and forgot to collect it before going upstairs to get changed for dinner. By the time he remembered, the towel had disappeared. We asked all the staff if they'd seen it but they told us they hadn't.

Two nights later I was sitting by the bar when another guest asked for a cloth to mop up some spilled drink. The barman reached behind the bar and produced my son's towel!!!

The hotel aside, the people around the resort are wonderful and warm and friendly. Although the area does suffer from severe commercialism. You cannot walk down the street without being harangued by shop keepers or restaurant owners enticing you in to their establishments.

But beware. Some of these people can be very aggressive in their pursuit of your money. Especially in the market where I was actually grabbed by the wrist by one stall-holder in order to stop me walking away without buying anything. If this is your cup of Turkish tea then you will have a wonderful time - but take English money with you - when paying in local restaurants it is cheaper to pay in pounds rather than lira.

But ultimately, it was the hotel that took the shine of this holiday for me. To be honest - if it wasn't for the lovely people we met and the friends we made at this hotel we would have been thoroughly miserable at the Marcan.

This third rate hotel struggles to reach the dizzy heights of it's meagre three stars. We know people have come back here year after year - but we spoke to some of them - and they told us it would be their last visit. It will definitely be ours! Avoid!!!

"Just returned from a fortnight half board stay at this hotel. It is our 4th holiday to Turk..."

Just returned from a fortnight half board stay at this hotel. It is our 4th holiday to Turkey and 3rd visit to this resort, it was the first and LAST at this hotel.

On arrival at 7.30am following a long overnight flight, we were met by a grumpy night duty manager who was only expecting my self & my wife & not my 13 year old daughter. He quickly shuffled the rooms around and allocated us somebody else’s room.

£70 later after paying for the aircon & safe we were taken to our room (in C Block) by a member of staff who was expecting a tip. The rooms are basic & clean but small, even smaller if like us there were 3 sharing a room as they squeeze in an extra single bed.

We were lucky we didn’t have a room overlooking the pool & bar area as we were quickly made aware that there was no chance of getting any sleep until the early hours as the bar was kept open playing loud & repetitive music until the last person left for bed.

The hotel operates a swipe card payment system where all your food and drinks bought are put on the swipe card and the idea is to settle up at the end of the holiday. It seems good in theory but you can quickly build up a large bill if you’re not careful. My advice is to keep all of your receipts and settle up every couple of days to keep track of your spends.

Added to this the hotel had numerous sign's up enforcing strict rules that no food or drink was to be brought into the hotel from outside or it will be taken off you until you go home & believe me the duty manager on reception would try to check your bag if he suspected you were bringing items in!

No real point in hiring a fridge for £20 as you could only fill it with goods bought from the bar. The bar prices are up to 2 or 3 times the price of goods in the town.

We were unfortunate to have gone half board as the food was very basic and repetitive. Breakfast was as you would expect from basic continental (wasps included) with no variety. Evening meal consisted of 15 mezes (same every night for 14 nights, again including wasps) and 2 main dishes.

The 2 main dishes were different each night for a week & then repeated the following week, no good for veggies or if you were hungry. We ended up eating out many nights, again more £££’s.

We spent most days at the poolside with a good size pool. The area is very well maintained, clean and with plenty of room for sun beds, however the sun bed cushions were full of stains and seriously need replacing.

The pool boy was excellent and always on hand armed with his squeegee, pushing the water away from the pool and under the beds, so be warned not to leave anything under your bed as it will get soaked!

As we got into our holiday it became clear that the hotel were out to get as much £££’s out of us brits as they possibly could. Extra charges are abundant at this hotel with charges for an hour of pool, hour of internet use (with only one pc available) along with the safe, aircon, fridge and TV hire. One of the many songs that were played continuously was ‘All About The Money’ by Meja and this became the theme song for our holiday.

If like us, you are on a night flight and are being picked up for your return journey at 2am – you are to vacate your room by midday, hand in your safe key and swipe card then expected to sit around the uncomfortable, hot & sticky lobby for 14 hours with no aircon or secure area for you luggage and belongings.

If they haven’t overbooked the hotel (which is very common) you can keep your room on until 6pm at a charge of £15.00 - which was £10.00 when we arrived or for an extra night a charge of £20.00 - £15 when we arrived. Again they the management saw an opportunity and increased the prices during our stay.

What more can I say about this hotel? The cleaners do a fantastic job and keep the hotel spotless, with a constant change of bedding and towels in the rooms. The bar staff are wonderful and friendly and you can tell that they are under constant pressure from the management. The resident photographer Fred is a great guy and takes awesome family photos.

It’s just a shame that the management seriously let this hotel down. There was a lack of atmosphere and fun as they were just out for our money.

We met some wonderful people and families, without them we wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much. We will definitely be back to Hisaronu as it is a fantastic place, in a wonderful setting. No complaints about the place or people, just this shambolic hotel.

PLEASE DONT GO TO THE MARCAN HOTEL, HISARONU.

Me and my wife arrived with a party of 26 of us for a 2 week stay at the Marcan, we were all their to see a relative get married on Olu Deniz beach. The resort on the whole is very good, plenty of bars & restaurants to choose from, decent prices and nice people,(the barmen doing the same dance to the same song in each bar can grate after a bit though).

Now the hotel!

Where do I begin?

On arrival everything seemed as it should be, reasonable reception area, I'd requested via email a fridge in the room at a charge of £20 (which changed depending on what day of the week it was) and a pool view which was supplied. The rooms are very basic, the balcony tiny, no room for a small table to go with the 2 plastic chairs provided, bathroom a little dirty and air conditioning which could be turned on at a charge of £50 for the fortnight! But all in all we wasnt expecting the hilton before we came and we aren't snobs so we just got on with enjoying the holiday. Round the pool bar on day 1 we were greeted to friendly staff, eager to please (one said 'I am bar manager, if you need anything you come see me', he wasnt!!!). A few complaints from others in our party about certain problems with their room, ie- toilet not flushing, no air con etc, but nothing major!

The hotel operates a card payment system where all your food and drinks bought are on the card and you settle up later, seems good in theory but you can rack up a hefty bill very quickly if your not careful, plus keep every receipt and check your bill each time you settle up as on occasion, things got added that you havent had! Added to this the hotel had sign's up instructing not to buy food & drink fron outside and bring it in the hotel as it wasnt permitted, they had secruity on in the evening who would try to check your bag if he suspected you had done!

The pool area where we spent most of our days is decent, fair sized pool, plenty room for sunbeds etc, on the downside, the cusions on the beds are filthy, they need throwing and replacing. The pool was filled to the brim so whenever anybody got in and made anything resembling a splash water spilled over, wots the problem with that I here you ask, well, firstly the manager would be over telling whoever caused it not to do it again and then a member of staff would be on the case with a squeegy, pushing the water away from the pool and under everybody's beds, so if you left anything on the floor under your bed it got soaked!

As the first week progressed it became clear that the hotel staff had been given one instruction, to take as much money off the guests as possible, using any means at their desposal! One staff member stopped one of us in the street asking why we didnt eat in the hotel, when he was told it was because the hotel was over-priced and not of good quality he stormed off to report back, but nothing changed.

For 3 days temperatures were in the mid 50's, it was sizzling, this was the cue for the bar manager to stop making ice for the drinks as (in his words) 'people always asking for ice so I stop making, it just get too much'. I ordered a couple of beers from the bar, when they arrived I took a swig and the beer was warm, I asked the barman if he could replace the top and put it in the freezer to cool down, he then calmly produced a cold one fron the freezer (good of him I thought) then replace the top on the warm one (remember I had already drank from it) and put it back on the fridge for re-sale!!!
We spotted the reception manager going round the bar with a clip board and tape measure. She was physically checking every optic in the bar and making a note of it!

On the evening of the wedding it had been arranged that we would have a private meal in the hotel restaurant with entertainment (belly dancer etc) provided by the hotel (at a charge of course). But, the day before up went a sign advertising a 'turkish night' stating 'everybody welcome', this was my aunts wedding night and the hotel had turned it into public event available to all (for a charge). We had to hurridly sort an alternative venue to avoid the wedding reception becoming a turkish night! This enraged the manager as he was now losing his money by us switching to an alternative hotel, watching him storm round the pool was one of the highlights of the holiday!

Even down to the last day the hotel was penny pinching, as we were checking out the bar manager was running round trying to discover who hadn't paid for 2 coffee's from the day before! It turned out one in our party had actually had them, paid for them and had the receipt to prove it!

If you value your holiday I urge you to avoid this hotel at all cost's!

We were disappointed with this accommodation especially as it was 3*. We usually stay at the Millennium Hotel and next year we will be back there as the staff are much more friendly and the service is of a better standard - we missed them all this year.
I must say though the cleaner in block D was terrific and couldn't do enough for us and the day and night receptionists were very good, however the remaining staff were poor and not very friendly - one was very moody most of the time!
After talking to regular guests the overall concensus is that the hotel is performing well below par

A super hotel which has a prime location within walking distance to the main street, with plenty of bars and restaurants, however it is situated far enough away not to hear any noise. Olu deniz beach is amazing and well worth a day visit.
Staff in the restaurants are very friendly and attentive, offering special deals! Nice restaurants include The Olive Tree and Dominoes.

Hisaronu is an amazing destination - lots to do, lots to see and great prices. The Marcan was a nice clean hotel but I would recommend going self catering as the breakfast wasnt up to much!
Prices in the hotel are more expensive than elsewhere and they will not allow you to bring in your own food/water forcing you to buy daily bits at inflated prices which, whilst still cheap, is irritating when from the shops its a 3rd of the price.
Air conditioning is £25 a week extra an can be a bit noisy.
