Correlejo itself is ideal for families however we didn't expect our accommodation to be quite as far out of the resort as it was. We were under the impression that the taxi rank was a 5 minute walk - it was more like a 15 minute walk in uneven pavements draped with low trees. Not easy with a small child. Also difficult with a young child was the very narrow spiral staircase leading to the roof terrace. It was treacherous enough for the adults never mind the little ones and elderly people would be very reluctant to even try it.
There were no shops within walking distance and no beach. Every day we were faced with huge dust clouds caused by two separate building sites on either side of our apartment. Very noisy and dirty.
The apartment itself wasn't particularly well appointed, the self catering facility was poor and there was nowhere else to eat on the complex. The apartment was also quite dirty and ridden with ants.
The pool wasn't usable as it was freezing cold. The hot tub in the garden had to be cleaned out by us before we could use it and the floor tiles were filthy.
