"We have just returned after booking a nice 4* hotel in Cala Vinas. Unfortunately on arrival ..."

We have just returned after booking a nice 4* hotel in Cala Vinas. Unfortunately on arrival the hotel was double booked and so we were sent to these appartments and told they were in Palma Nova. They are about 100 yards from the 'strip' in Magaluf. Go here if you want to be close to all nightlife and don't care what the accomodation is like so long as you have a place to crash!
You have no chance of cooking on the two rings as there is nothing to cook with.
You need to be drunk to sleep on the excuse for beds - they are metal legged camp beds which are so hard and the pillow no better. You can sleep in the lounge area which is a little more comfortable however I didn't want to sit on the settee as I dread to think what the stains were. You would also need to be drunk to block out the continual noise.
Outside our door was a black dustbin with a sign on saying 'bottles only'. This was continually being filled with empty vodka, gin, whisky, etc bottles - says it all really.
On the plus side its close to the beach and the reception staff were nice and friendly.

Just got back from the Waikiki Apartments and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms were basic but clean, and our room in particular was nice as the balcony didn't overlook anyone else (although I know most of the other rooms balconys are very close together).
The staff were friendly and helpful, and it was in a great location right in-between magaluf and palma nova which had 2 of the most lovely beaches. The magaluf 'strip' got very busy at night and the pr's got very annoying, trying to drag you into each bar you walk past, but taking a stroll into palma nova was nice as these had some nice souvenir shops and quieter family bars.
The only thing that I'd say is that it's not really suitable for families - the apartments got very noisy at night, large groups of lads and girls had their doors open and blastered music out most nights until the early hours, and there was a lot of door slamming. Also, the TV channels were terrible, the 2 english channels were sky news and bbc world, which were so boring - but if you're out all the time it doesn't make much difference!
All in all I'd certainly consider going back, but maybe not at the same time of year. (East Yorkshire).

"This has to be an holiday from hell arrived in majorca (23-07-05) we had a total of 4 rooms ..."

This has to be an holiday from hell arrived in majorca (23-07-05) we had a total of 4 rooms in one week and also two break ins in one day but the thief used his/her own key to help themselves to our money in total they got 130.00 sterling cutting a lock from a suitcase that was stowed in the wardrobe behind a chest of drawers. The police would not come out as the thief used a key and didnt break the door in. The 18-30 over run the place the brochure said families and couples it was very noisy until at least 5a.m in the morning. The 18-30 also took the pool over at 4 p.m when they had wake up calls from reception you knew they were coming from all the phones ringing. The cuts we all recieved from the kids pool were unbelivable. Management also had the cheek to give us a letter on arrival that if we made a noise they would evict you, so how come we had to be quiet but at 2a.m I had to go out to reception and ask them to keep the noise down as they were involved in the noise as well as the drunks. The review I read about the waikiki on your web was for 2003 and aspro still havent got it right the brouchre is still advertiseing for families. We knew magaluf was busy this time of the year as we have visted the Island on several occassions before and have always loved it, couldn't wait to get on the coach to come back home to u.k. We never thought we would have to spend a sleepless and fearful week as we just have. Another family had a water leak in their room and it flooded their apartment they were given two towels and a mop and bucket to clean it up I don't know the outcome of them as thankfully our coach came to get us. (A family from wales.)
