"We stayed at the Catalonia Consul for 1 week in October. We did not go through a tour opera..."

We stayed at the Catalonia Consul for 1 week in October. We did not go through a tour operator so arrived earlier than we should have. The reception staff were extremely helpful and found us a room even though we shouldn't have booked in until the afternoon.

The hotel was very pleasantly decorated and well laid out. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The meals were a bit samey but were quite nice. The only down side was having to queue to get into the dining room, although the staff here were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to going back again.

"This is the worst hotel we have ever had the misfortune to visit. Throughout the first week ..."

This is the worst hotel we have ever had the misfortune to visit. Throughout the first week there was no running water for long periods every day. Despite reporting this to reception staff, no solution (pun intended} was offered. When we were moved to a room with acceptable washing facilities it had no view and was situated in a block housing staff who were responsible for considerable late night noise. The dining room was ill designed and hazardous. The crockery and cutlery were stained and sticky with the residue of previous meals. The transport arrangements were made chaotic by incompetent and uncooperative reception staff-Joanne was the rare exception. This hotel is situated in a lovely location and is potentially splendid which makes it all the more frustrating that it fails on basic requirements illustrated by the observation that the pool area was being washed down liberally when we did not have a drop to cleanse our sweaty bodies {no way Jose!}
