This beach hotel is situated in Marbella's tourist centre, just 450 metres from the nearest beach. It is located close to the city centre (around 2 km) with numerous shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants. The nearest public transport links are located just 150 metres from the hotel.

We booked a Riu hotel because of the reputation for quality. It was also on special offer at medhotels.com . Indeed, there were some excellent points about the hotel. However, it was unfortunately let down by its location on the very busy A340 dual carriageway. Tricky to get to from the airport; once past Marbella and Puerto Banus you will see the Riu on the lefthand side. Drive past it and use the turning for Ronda and change direction to come back the other way back towards Marbella and Malaga. Then get into the unmarked slip road as you pass the big golf shop on the right (1km). You will then have negotiated the most difficult part of your journey. If you have a package then don't worry someone else has to find it for you. We travelled idependently but Thomsons use this hotel for packages.
The hotel itself is arranged like a spanish village and it has 2 pools one heated but very deep (1.9 - 2.5 m) and the other unheated and attached to the childrens pool(all outdoors). You can reach the beach by walking about 5- 10 mins. Nice cafe on the beach but a bit pricey.
The food was typical of a four star hotel and the restaurant provided 2 sittings which is typical of Riu Hotels, I understand. The accomodation was spacious, if a little worn or lived in for a four star property. We had two rooms and a double Bathroom/shower room - booked as one room. We were allowed to keep it on for free on the day of departure until 6pm that night. The staff were friendly helpful and courteous. The entertainment was good for the size of the hotel and was different every night and catered to the fairly mixed nationalities. I don't think I can knock the hotel but I didn't go for its location at all. (London)
