A little disappointed on this visit as I have been to this resort quite a few times, but on this particular occasion the room/s were ready until around 4.30pm, apartment only cleaned prior to our arrival and that was it!
There were no Towel Changes made either (there were however sufficient, so I shouldn't complain too much), bins not emptied etc.
We just returned from A club la Costa promotional holiday that our friends had invited us on. I have to say I had been very sceptical as I thought the price we were paying £29 plus £40 in airport taxes was a bit too cheap as it included the flights and accomodation.
I have to say I was thankfully proved wrong.
We did have to sit through a meeting for around 4 hours on the friday after having a nice complimentary breakfast and being shown around the resorts members facilities.
The salesmen of course did try their hardest to convince us that the package on offer was the best thing since sliced bread, however they were not rude and quckly got the message that we were not interested and that was it.
One word of warning is that they prices quoted throughout the tour appear to be very good however in the final talk the manager is called over and goes through all the figures which equate to £14,000 over a period of time or £29 per week, which is pretty high. They also gloss over the other figures rather quickly and try to tempt you with lots of numbers and drawings, but if like us you had no intention of buying anyway the the whole process is not to painful at all for what you get.
The resort itself is very clean and quiet except for a dual carriageway that runs between the beach and the resort and this can be a bit loud at times.
The accomodation is clean and simple but was perfect for us as two couples just wanting a quiet week away. Trips taken from the resorts were.
- Morroco on a day trip, it was ok but nothing special.
- Visited the Alhambra palace in Granada, which was pretty.
- Went to Marbella, very nice.
- Want to Mijas di costa, has a nice market from 10-2 on saturdays
- Apparently Nerja and the Rhonda are very pretty but we unfortunately did not get there this time.
All in all it was a great cheap holiday to be honest and was well worth the 4 hours of pain in the meeting with the Club la Costa team. I will certainly do it again :-)
We had a weeks promotional holiday at Club La Costa and stayed in the California Beach Resort area of the complex in the San Diego suites. The room they gave us was gold standard(they have gold, silver and standard) and was fabulous. Four poster bed in good size bedroom, fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, fridge, freezer, oven and microwave.
En suite had spa bath and shower, living room nicely decorated and spacious and to top it a jacuzzi on the spacious double fronted patio. You really could live permanently in this apartment.Weather wasn't very good but not surprised for January.
Complex is massive with various restaurants and bars and kept immaculate. Entertainment in Sunrise lounge was pretty good for out of season.
If you hire a car, nice places to visit are Marbella for walk along nice prom, Benalmadena marina which is new and very nice, Mijas which is lovely hillside village nearby and Puerto Banus for swanky shops and yachts which is a little cheesy but lovely to walk around of a day, but rather intimidating of a night, some dodgy characters around.
Also Gibralter which is about 70 miles away but well worth the visit. Overall club la costa do look after you even if you don't purchase a timeshare.
We had to wait 2 and half hours for our apartment but when we got it it was well worth the wait it was very well furnished and had excelent veiws over the sea and the pool.
The staff was excelent the onley problem was the location as you have to walk to fugerolla to the shops it was about halfe a hours walk but we got to know a short cut.
The beach was not very good but the pool maid up for that. When we had our meeting we had a 3 course meal and the rep was excelent no presure at all a nother down side was the busy main road that run across the bottom.
This was a 'free' holiday having attended a Club La Costa meeting in UK which turned out to be absolutely brilliant! It cost an initial fee of £29.50 each, followed by a further £40 each to cover airport taxes and that was it apart from the obvious usual costs that you would spend on holiday. The resort was clean and tidy and we had a 2 bedded apartment just for the 2 of us, so plenty of room! The staff on the resort were helpful and courteous, nothing seemed too much trouble. Yes, we had to attend yet another presentation but the rep took us off site and showed us around the area a bit which was really nice. We had no intention of buying into the concept and made this clear from the start so if anyone wants a cheap holiday with guaranteed decent accommodation, this is it!
This was an excellent aspartment and location was 10 minute walk to town ( main road/bus route offers excellent transport whether trip to town or Gibraltar ) without reliance on taxis or expensive excursions.
Only disappointing aspect is that you may be approached on site about Timeshare and you will notice people being taken around complex in order to sell/purchase Timeshare. You may also find that the Resurant/Bar gets full with potential Timeshire Buyers ( and you will not get a look in! )
However there is a small bar/pub at the bottom of the hill ( turn left at El Rancho ), they have a cosy atmosphere and Karaoke ( they were decent when we were there! ). Try it!
Whilst it's a 10 minute walk to Fuengorila ( over the bridge is best/safest ), you can also get the bus ( Don't forget this is the main road busues go everywhere )
The beach ain't sparkling on site ( you have to go under a tunnel and it's not to most peoples liking ), however go into town it's better cleaner and more to do!
