Calella Reviews

Costa Brava, Spain Mainland

Calella lies about 30 miles from the airport, and with it's own commercial centre open every day offering a wide range of goods, all your holiday needs will be well catered for. Accommodation though, tends to be in the lower range with mainly one and two star hotels and apartment blocks spread out throughout the length of the resort. The best feature here is the beach, it is long and wide with a good amount of water sports for you to try, there is also entertainment provided for the children during the main summer months. There are plenty of bars, amusements and discos to ensure that the night is one long party.

Good value bars, pubs and restaurants cater for all tastes, with the odd fast food outlet available for a quick meal. Fish caught just off the coast and cooked into dishes such as Risotto a la Marinera (sea food risotto)and Pescaito Frito (mixed fried fish) are well worth a try, as are the many meat specials found on all the restaurant menus. Plenty of burgers, pizzas and even a Sunday roast, for those feeling a bit homesick, can be enjoyed in most of the British themed establishments, with a great variety of locally produced beers and wines to suit all tastes. Sangria must be tried while your here, as no Spanish holiday would be complete without it.

Top Rated in Calella: Les Palmeres

REVIEW BY: M.G. Di Iulio - July 2007

My husband and I just returned from Les Palmeres Hotel in Calella. It was a very quaint Hotel. I am very picky about cleanliness and it was very, very clean.
The staff was very hospitable and catering to every possible need or question we had. Michel A. Alfonzo at the Pool Bar was the sweetest , most receptive and kindest man.
It is situated perfectly in and around the very close town of Calella.
We also had the train and metro at our disposal to travel to Barcelona, Girona and other neighbouring beach towns.
The breakfast and dinners which were included were varied and homemade. I have a peanut and nut allergy and they were very nice to informing daily ie the chef would regarding the food that I could and could not eat. I would highly recommend this hotel and return there in the very near future. We felt at home and very comfortable.
