St Helier itself was a bit like Docklands in London - the buildings did not seem to suit the location. We hired a car and travelled around the Island and visited most bays. St Quens was the best for me. The rest of Jersey was perfect, great shopping and restaurants. Especially the Merton Hotel in St Helier where we stayed. The quality of food and cleanliness surpassed my expectations. All the staff from bottom to top were extremely polite and friendly and very efficient. Also the whole of Jersey inhabitants were friendly (the islanders in particular). I believed that the Merton offered more of a 4 star in terms of facilities - although the internet access facility left a lot to be desired and I would have liked some beauty treatments. I would highly recommend Jersey and especially the Merton to anyone looking for quality!! Weather was good also when we went. We will be going again and most probably to the Merton.
