The Barcelo las Margaritas is a comfortable beach hotel located approximately 1.5 km from the inviting sandy beach and the turquoise-blue sea. The famous Playa del Inglés lies just a short distance from the hotel in the tourist centre of the town. Gran Chaparral shopping centre as well as Cita leisure centre is situated just a few paces away and can easily be reached on foot. Public transport departs from stops that are to be found in the vicinity and there is an abundance of restaurants as shops as well as countless restaurants, bars and lively nightlife scene. Many additional entertainment venues are to be found in the local area. Rooms at the Barcelo las Margaritas have a terrace, air conditioning, bathroom with hair dryer, satellite television, mini bar, telephone and a safety deposit box. Facilities at the Barcelo las Margaritas include four bars, two adult swimming pools, two children's swimming pools, a disco, hairdresser, sauna, several shops and an entertainment and recreational area with games, pool tables, table tennis and darts. Sports facilities include a gym, five-a-side football, tennis, volleyball, French bowls, mini golf and a driving range.

| | Comments: | Having never been to the Canaries we were unsure of what to expect but as all we really wanted to do for a week was relax and sunbathe the climate of Gran Canaria seemed ideal and we were not disappointed. It was very hot all week and temperatures rose to around 37C and the heat did not let up all day and into the night. We were very grateful for the air conditioning in the appartment! We would not recommend this destination for anyone who does not cope very well in the heat as having packed factor 30 suncream, which we thought would be more than adequate, we quickly learned (after burning on day one after around an hours sun by the pool) that this was not enough and ended up with factor 60! The appartment itself was fine, quite dated decor but had everything we needed and alhough the shower was a bit dribbly and not brilliant it served its purpose. Our appartment was spacious and had a good sized balcony and was easily reached by the lift or stairs. We didn't use too much of the kitchen stuff as food is really cheap and good but it all seemed pretty good. The only criticism of our room was the fact that it
was right next to the stairs and this meant inevitably being woken at 3 in the morning by the drunken revellers as they fell up the stairs! But despite this we slept pretty well and the blackouts at the curtains were very welcome as the main hotel across the way is lit up like a Xmas tree all night!
We ventured to the main hotel one night to see the evening show and altough the setting is nice, round the pool and bar, the entertainment was mediocre and sitting on our balcony was just as good as although we couldn't see the other shows we had no choice but to hear them. But saying this they ended at 11 at night so didn't go on all night.
The pool area near the appartment block was great and got the sun all day, but it was a fight to get a sunbed with a parasol most days and despite a rule of the hotel being that towels cannot be left on sunbeds to reserve them it still happened every day and this was unfair but no body seemed willing to impose the rule amongst the bar staff. As the sun blazed here all day it also meant that the guests from the main hotel snuck to this pool rather than their own so it got full and busy very quickly. But it was clean and the food from the bar was ok (bit expensive and limited.)
Playa del Ingles as a resort is pretty good. Loads of eating places (with obligatory harrassment from touts on the streets!) and good quality shopping at the main shopping area. We ate here every night and were pleasantly surprise at the quality and value on offer. The lower part of the shopping centre has all the night life (but fairly quiet at this time of year it has to be said) and caters for the gay community in the main with gay bars and fetish shops and clubs in abudance. We had a wander round and did not feel out of place and there was always bars more suitable for families there to choose from. The beach is fab, clean and our hotel had a courtesy bus running regularly which was good. We did walk it a couple of times but its a fair way and in the heat not that enjoyable! Sunbeds at the beach were 7.50 euros for 2 with a parasol which wasn't too bad and as the sand was red hot saved you burning your bum! We had a good time relaxing there and again theres plenty of eating places nearby.
Overall we can honestly say this is the best holiday we've had for a while and it really served its purpose as a getaway for good weather and plesant surroundings. We plan to go back and see the sights next time as there is loads more to it than just the beach and would happily stay at the same complex again.
