Facilities at the Riu Gran Canaria Club include 3 swimming pools heated in winter, 2 whirlpool baths, 2 Jacuzzis, sun terrace, sun beds, parasols, aerobics, gym, tennis, volleyball, shuffleboard, boules, darts, rifle shooting, table tennis, hotel kids club (4-12 years), playground, mini disco and the Riu entertainment team with organised activities programme and night time entertainment.

| | Comments: | This was our 1st flight from Doncaster Airport (use East Mids)- calm, clean and treated with courtesy-will travel from here anyday. When we got to Gran Canaria the airport was busy and we had to hunt down our coach transfer-we kept getting advised of the wrong bay numbers and was told this was due to the first week of Winter holidays and the schedule had changed.
As a premier customer we were told we would be 1st or 2nd drop off - we were 1st so ideal. On arriving at the hotel we entered a spacious clean entrance hall with helpful smiley reception staff.
Were given towels for the sunbeds, bottled water and a band for the All Inclusive option. We were then told we had been upgraded to a 'suite' as there were three adults in our party at no extra cost - very nice incl. a lounge area!
Our cases were delivered to our room for us. The room was clean and typically RIU. We had paid for a garden view,this was beautiful looking out to the sea and manicured gardens.
The pool was clean but needed some freshening up although every day the pool and surrounding areas were cleaned. The All Inclusive option was great all sorts of drinks snacks available throughout most of the day. You would be hard pushed to find a time when there is no food on at some part of the hotel.
The restaurants were clean bright and the food was good, variety of salads , fish, cold meats, salamis, pickles etc. Plus a hot food area which also had a carved meat eg beef, duck, gammon and vegetables on each night. Breakfasts just as good cereals, juices, pancakes. cold meats, cheeses, omelettes,boiled, fried eggs, bacon sausage etc.
Fresh variety of breads at each meal. Try Mexican and Asian nights at Las Brisas these made a nice change and food good.
If you fancy a walk the promenade at the rear of the hotel is good for shops, restaurants turn left and you will be met with designer shops a plenty!
Day time activity was in abundance incl tennis, volleyball, aqua fit, shooting, water polo or just relax. Night time entertainment was ok some professional acts but on the nights the animation team covered it was very amaturish although they worked very hard indeed. All in all staff great, friendly and helpful.
Get a taxi on Wednesday or Saturdays to the market for about 3- 4 euros but be prepared to haggle. Now the down sides : not many but worth making you aware sunbeds are too close together and cramped, hotel occupancy mainly germans who have forgot their manners.
