| | Comments: | Visited the Sheraton on Valentines weekend with my kids (aged 14 and 17) for a hockey tournament. Were immediately told at check in that hockey sticks were not allowed into the hotel and then had to sign a waiver that included such dumb things as 'one noise complaint would result in eviction'.
At this point we were not in the position to go looking for other accomodations elsewhere as the whole team was booked into the hotel.
The team had fund-raised and had booked a hospitality suite for the parents and boys to hang out in before and after games. We were told at the time of booking that there were no 'Party rooms' available but we would be allowed to use a hospitality room for our team get together room.
On the Friday night the security came to the door twice stating he had had noise complaints - there were 4 adults and 3 kids in the room having normal conversation.
The following night the same thing happened all over again two more times at which time the security guard said that only 4 people were allowed in the room at one time.
I visited the front desk to express my frustation at the fact that 6 adults could not have a normal conversation without being interrrupted and told to be quiet and that only 4 people were allowed in the room.
I expressed my concern to the front desk person that the room had been rented as a hospitality room and that we were only having normal level conversations.
I was told that there was no manager on staff that I could speak to and that it was not on file anywhere that we had booked it as a hospitality room. The front desk person just kept saying that we had signed a waiver about noise (only bookings for the hockey team had to do this) and that they should have kicked us out last night but they let us off.
I kept telling the young man at the desk that the room was booked as a hospitality room and he kept denying that it was. He was rude and very arrogant, full of silly smirks and would not let me have a word at all. When I raised my voice and asked him 'to listen to me for a minute' he took a step back and said 'if you say that again I will leave and have your evicted'.
I looked at him and said 'listen to me', he backed away from the counter and then called security who proceeded to call the police to have us evicted.
The police came to the hospitality room, found no evidence of noise, drinking or rowdiness and commented that 'it is stupid of us to waste any more of our time' and left.
PROCEED WITH CAUTION WHEN BOOKING THIS HOTEL - they knowingly booked us a hospitality room, took money from us that the kids had fund-raised for, and then denied us the use of it as they claimed that it was not in 'their contract' that it was a hospitality room.
Needless to say none of the 17 families that came this weekend will ever return to the Sheraton. We were treated terribly, lied to and swindled out of our money.
