| Dona Sylvia | | Address: Cavelossim Beach | Cavelossim, Goa 403 731, India
Built in a village style - accommodation is in blocks of either two or four rooms - the Dona Sylvia Beach Resort has a tranquil, relaxing feel. There is a large pool, but you probably wont spend too much time here, as the hotel is built on one of Goas finest beaches, and youll find yourself drawn irresistibly by the pull of the Arabian Sea. For a change of scene, the hotel is close to the heart of the resort, so its only a short walk to a wide choice of bars and restaurants or you could visit the nearby town of Margao for an experience of the real India! | | Please send in your pictures of this resort or hotel

| | Comments: | This was our first time in Goa and it was a wonderful relaxing holiday. The staff at the hotel were excellent - they couldn't do enough for you - from the staff on reception to the security guards, everyone was very helpful and friendly. Once Subash knows where you are sitting by the pool, then every morning you find that he has your sun beds ready and waiting for you. And the poolside bar staff are wonderful.
The only downside we found was that apart from walking along the fantastic beach, there wasn't a great deal to do if you don't like sitting by the pool or on the beach. To get round this, we hired a taxi for a day from the hotel (cost about £30. Don't worry, the taxi drivers are very knowledgeable and friendly - not too sure about the standard of their driving but... Also took a trip with Jack's Cruises out to see the dolphins and then back up the river to look at the wild life - considering that drinks and lunch were included in the six hour trip, it was good value at about 700 rupees each (abt £8.00).
Medical care is excellent - my husband fell down and sprained his ankle and the hotel doctor came to see him - not only did he check his ankle but took blood pressure, listened to his chest and gave some general advice plus a prescription all for 500 Rupees! The Pharmacy were very helpful and the prescription cost for 5 items came to 400 Rupees! In fact many people were buying medicines to bring back home.
All in all a very relaxing, chilled out holiday. Would we go back? Well, if the hotel could have been moved to somewhere with a little bit more life on the outside, then yes, like a shot. For me it was great but husband got a little 'stir crazy'.
One final point is that this was the most friendliest holiday I have ever been on - you could plonk yourself down on any sunbed and have a chat and everywhere you went on the site you could always find someone to have a conversation with.
