We (thankfully) only stayed here for 4 days as we spent 5 days in another hotel in Arenal and just came down for the entertainment of Magaluf. But by the end of the first day there we were gutted and wanted to go home.
The hotel apartments are small if you are going as a family, they are rarely cleaned/towel changed (once during our stay) and they have no air con and slow ceiling fans that do nothing. It was like a melting pot by the end of the day and absolutely unbearable to sleep in.
Had we not been traveling with children we would have left the balcony doors open but that and given the nature of the resort and the fact that a woman had her handbag stolen from by her feet in the clubroom, we chose to sweat it out - nights became a dread!
To top it off the cot we were given was almost falling apart - i'd advise u to check the fittings before putting ur baby in as we needed to tighten them all up. The double bed is made up of a sofa bed that is made of slats as thin as cardboard and my husband (avg size/weight) fell through them at 3 in the morning when he was asleep.
The corridors/stairs on the blocks are dirty and look like a council block and the 1 tiny lift per block is slow and just gets a small buggy in.
The hotel itself was generally badly maintained and in desperate need of refurb in the club room. The pool itself was nice, clean and spacious but the sunbed situation was bad - not enough 4 the no, of guests yet no space for anymore as they were cramped and all over the place as it was.
There were no parasols at all which i thought was bad at a family hotel - we had to buy one to shade our baby. - the Thomson reps also police the sunbeds every morning putting letters not reserve them with towels and moving peoples stuff off them and threats to do so over the tanoy - a great start to the day!
The hotel, whilst advertised as a family hotel it seemed to be more families with teenage children and some of the guests (adults included) made it seem like 'chav city', The entertainment was tacky but bearable but that didn't bother us as we went out most of the time.
The music is loud until midnight which didn't bother us but might have if we were in the opposite block directly above the clubhouse.
The food in the red lion was nice and reasonable but there are so many places to eat in Magaluf u will have plenty of choice. Magaluf was very busy, lots of youngsters as expected but the beach was lovely. There is plenty of shops, bars and restaurants but nothing really for young families.
Tom Browns was very close and the food good and reasonable prices. We also tried the Cottage as it was recommended on a review but it turned out to be disappointing, but was so cheap i suppose it was a case of getting what you paid for. - Which to be honest, sum up this hotel.
And by the way, don't bother asking the reception for
anything - they are lazy, useless and try to con you! We asked to extend our room cause our flight was late and were given a leaflet for a middle man holiday shop. We asked for them to call us a cab and they insisted there was no answer but arranged a very expensive transfer instead!
My advice is, if you are a family with young children, don't book here and maybe try out Palma Nova, El Arenal or the 'Continental Park Superfamily hotel in Alcudia -it was great! If you have already booked - take a fan!
Also, take the Thomson's own rating and reviews with a pinch of salt - i submitted a review on there too which conveniently was not put on?! And their score is very optimistic when compared to impartial sites like this!

Magaluf overlooks the bay of Palma and lies about 16 miles from the airport. Although a lot of work has been done to improve the centre and the resorts image, it still remains a favourite with the young, free and single due to the enormous amount of bars and discos at night. The biggest concentration of hotel and apartment blocks on the island, provide plenty of tourists for the many shops at the resort centre, while there is also a market at Calvia on a Monday. Water sports, go-karting, and a waterpark are all on offer for your daytime entertainment, with tennis and a golf course close by. The largest beach on the southern side of the island can still become crowded during the high season, and with the latest attraction, a glass sided submarine, there's never a dull moment here.
Like most of the popular European resorts, you'll find a huge amount of bars, pubs and restaurants here, serving every food combination you can think of. Plenty of fast food outlets give you the choice of burgers, pizzas and various fried chicken combinations with generous helpings of chips and salad if that's what you like. More traditional fare such as Sopa de Pescado (garlic stew with fish and tomatoes), Calderetas (lamb stew with almonds) and the fish specials Calamari (squid in batter deep fried) and Longostinos (giant prawns) are all worth a try. The local beers are as good as anything you'll drink back home and probably cheaper too. Wines and of course Sangria, are there to be enjoyed at every meal, and add to that the imported varieties and your drinking choice is endless.
