| | Comments: | Just how anyone can run down this fantastic hotel I will never know. Any one going must remember that they are in Africa and the sun is hard on the buildings.
I have visited Tunisia many times and have now been to this hotel TEN times in the last eight years. There are points that the decor is getting tired but for all you that may wish to know there is a major refit about to take place over the winter (if you have seen the rooms in the new building then this is what it will all be like and why all the new fire doors are light oak and not green to match the current decor) The staff are just fantastic and despite what I have been reading in some of the reviews here the hotel is cleaned very well every day (Night actually) Just walk in the reception at 2:00 a.m. and find the marble floor being polished, the carpets vacuumed and sometimes wet cleaned, get up at dawn 4:00 a.m. and watch as the pool area is washed and swept, try the white sock test in your room (Walk around in white socks and then look at the under side and before you moan do the same at home)
Last and I think as important as all the above put together, is that you DO NOT get ill on the food, I even eat the fresh sea food, and if like a whole load of people I talk to who say they have upset stomachs then try to do as you are told and don't drink too much alcohol in the sun I have told many people this and they are all surprised the difference it makes (Save your drinking for the evening, just loads of soft drinks and water oh yes if you are hot downing a cold drink in the heat is great but a shock to the body so drink plenty and slowly keep the ice for evenings if you must drink so quick.
It would sound like I would give this place 10 out of 10 but it would take a lot for me to be that happy and we all have certain likes and dislikes, overall I think this getrs a good 8 and remember what you are spending on it. A quick sum says it all

Shop around and get it for under £700 (I paid £638 this time with Meal on plane Transfers and full 25 kgs
But lets say you paid the average asking price at TC or MT around say £850
Take off £300 for your flights £20 Transfers £10 for Meals on Plane
That Gives £520 (with out any fuel surcharges) for 14 nights in the hotel
That's About £37 / day
If you go out in England for an evening meal with a few drinks you can spend that easily and I'm not talking A la Carte
Now Think Your Room, all your food, the drinks, snacks, nightclub (All In till 2:00 a.m.), the beach cafe
and all the free activates
Also people who complain about deposits on the TV remote and beach towels, they at least have towels for the beach and pool and I wonder how many would end up in the sea if they didn't If you go to the supermarket you often put a pound deposit in the trolley so you take it back, if you don't how many do you see in the river and abandoned around estates? like your pound you get the deposit back when you return items for others to use.
Enjoy Tunisia it is not England or America and look deeper into a fantastic friendly and very safe country. A last note is that the Riviera is a good hotel along with others but do take care as not all standards are the same, also If you crave a Mc Donalds get it before you go as I'm glad to say there is not one in Tunisia.
