Comments:
The Hotel Park is situated very close to the pedestrianised area of Eger and so was very suitable for us.

We were told by our rep at the airport that the receptioist spoke good English and we'd have no trouble booking in. This wasn't quite true. When we arrived, forms were pushed in front of us which we had to fill in. We asked where our room was and we were just pointed in the direction of the stairs. We had to lug our suitcases up four flights of stairs, looking all the time for our room. We received no help at all from those on the desk. Later my husband had to go down to try and find out what time the meals were served at. With great difficulty, he eventually found out.

OK! So that was the bad bit. As time went on and we became used to the place we grew to like it. The meals were great;dinner was a buffet every evening and there was a great choice of food. One evening we went to a wine cellar in the Valley of the Beautiful Women (this was included in our half board). There we were serenaded by a gypsy group and everyone had great fun.

Eger is a geat town to visit. However, apart from the Tourist Information Centre, very few people speak English (although it is supposedly taught in the schools).

We went on various excursions from Eger; some good others not so good. The best was to the Puszta and we saw a horse riding show as well as indigenous animals like the longhorned cattle.

Despite having booked a trip to Budapest, this was cancelled and we'd to make our own way there. Really enjoyed it when we arrived, but had looked forward to a rep showing us around.

All in all it was a good holiday, though some disasters struck.
