Reids Palace Address: Estrada Monumental 139, Funchal, Madeira 9000-098, Portugal This very traditional, exclusive luxury hotel lies high on a mountain at the end of a landscape dominated by steep cliffs and surrounded by a large garden. Guests are able to enjoy a wonderful view over the Bay of Funchal and the beach can be reached in a few minutes on foot. Numerous shopping possibilities and public transport links lie within a few metres of the hotel. The town centre with its various nightclubs and bars is around 1m from the hotel. (Actually there were quite a cross-section of ages but even Funchal itself is certainly not a destination for clubbers/pubbers.) Reid's Palace has a wonderful aspect high on a cliff over-looking the ocean and across the bay therefore some of the restaurants also have superb views and really make for a wonderful romantic dinner. Madeira itself is a beautiful island with plenty to see and the people are all very friendly - I loved it there.
