Comments:
Booked a late deal at named accommodation but hotel not in brochure so it was pot luck. Put in annex on arrival. Room clean. Air con was an extra that you had to pay for up front. Breakfasts the same every morning - eggs fried boiled or scrambled (usually cold) one type of meat (spam is better) processed cheese jam and bread. The coffee was nice. Offered all incl for 9euros a day but after seeing quality of main meal and choice at bar decided against it, anyway we like to eat out. Free bus to beach took you to side's western beach. Round corner at Yesil Oz hotel you could pick up free bus to Sidem beach which has a clean safe beach with lots of shallow water(no lifeguards if you have children) nice beach bar and some nice friendly waiters. The location of Sertkaya is bad but you are in walking distance to a row of bars/restaurants and we can definately recommend Meshur 49 for good cheap local food and a very friendly atmosphere. Bus stops outside hotel to go into Side where there are many places to eat but watch out check the prices before you order you can pay double or more due to location. Book trips at local tour operators not with hotel - we had a two day trip to Pamukkale including B&B and evening meal for �28 each. Truck safari is brill. Side itself seems to cater mostly for German, Dutch etc. We took turkish lire,euros and stirling (all were accepted in resort) but ended up confusing ourselves with the exchange rates. If you go have a great time the people are brilliant and friendly and haggle - they expect it. Dont be afraid to walk away, they will run after you if the price was ok and if not try again later. But watch out for the hard sell at the big jewellery centres and carpet weavers they take you to on the excursions. (York)
