We were so disappointed by the Imperial Hotel, but hoping that it may improve we did not complain to the tour operator until day three. A report was completed but Mercury were very unhelpful and said we should have complained sooner! The sheets in the room were clean but the matresses were stained as was the chair (we took photo's), the towels were threadbare on some occasions and the room had a small opaque window which overlooked the staff area. This area was messy and noisy. The bathroom was awful, the shower barely dribbled water and the fittings were very very shabbby indeed with a mouldy shower curtain. The food was dreadful with unscaled fish, plastic in the egg mayonnaise and a grey hair on the breakfast plates. The veg was all frozen and was frequently recycled to form part of the following evenings main meal - Yuk! The breakfast was laughable, sliced cheap white bread, jam and boiled eggs. One of the waiters hated his job and slammed around all the time and one of the waitresses performed like Mrs. Overall. The main areas were quite lovely with sweeping staircases and beatiful features, however this does not compensate for the disgusting food and lack of cleanliness in the dining room. I would never book with Mercury again, it cost just over eight hundred pounds for half board for the week for two, but we had to spend to eat out for reasons stated above.
