Once inside the Roman Hotel, you will be stunned as you are immersed in centuries of Greek history and Mythology. Resembling a Greek Palace, the museum-like interior has to be seen to be believed. Built on grounds where three tombs with frescoes from the Hellenistic period were found and well preserved, the hotel is well placed for sightseeing being surrounded by numerous archaeological sites. The beach is at a distance of 400m and shops are just around the corner.
Rooms at the Roman Hotel have a private bath, shower, balcony, WC, radio, satellite TV with in-house video and a direct dial telephone.

| | Comments: | The Roman Hotel was interesting and value for money as it was not expensive to stay there. However, it was quite a walk to the harbour in the evenings when and poorly lit, although I accept the walk may be better in the summer when the days are longer.
A lovely walk was to be had all round the the coastal path to the harbour during the day. The reception staff were execellent and check out time was flexible without incurring any extra cost.
The rooms were of a good size and the decor was certainly different and what attracted us to staying in the hotel. The hotel was however situated on a main road, which was fairly busy at times.
The evening meal, which if you were not half board you had to pay 14 euros each for was absolutely awful and quite often cold. The waiters however were friendly.
The reception area, although comfortable with intersting decor, did not have a no smoking section (neither of us smoke) and sometimes you could not see through the fog to find a seat and if you did eventually by chance grope your way to a chair you were guaranteed to stink of cigarettes within minutes!
There is also an African Grey parrott in reception which is lovely but, unfortunately, has had its wings rather severely clipped and cannot move from the cage which, although it would obviously not be possible for it to fly around when people were sitting there (assuming it could see its way through the smoke), did look bored and, we think, needed more freedom than was on offer.
