The Porto Elounda is the latest five-star creation of architect Spyros Kokotos, designer of all the well-known luxury resorts in Elounda. Unique in many respects, Porto Elounda is the only Insignia Resort in Greece. The Resort lies 500m from the renowned Hotel Elounda Mare, the only Relais & Chateaux in Greece. Both Hotels are under the same management and receive the personal attention of the Kokotos family. The Porto Elounda Deluxe Resort is built on the seafront, on a plot of 110,000 mē with a 150 meter long private sandy beach. The view from the Main Building, the Villas and Bungalows over Mirabello Bay and the distant mountains, is magnificent. The rooms and suites in the main building have all been renovated in 2003/2004, providing excellent accommodation with large balconies or terraces. The public areas are decorated with antique and contemporary furniture and rugs. | | Comments: | This is a very exclusive resort. The hotel is situated a good 2 km from Elounda village - which means if you wish to go out of the hotel complex you need to go by taxi - there are no bars, resrtaurants or supermarkets within walking distance therefore you have to pay hotel prices (which are very high). Apart from the lack of facilities close to the hotel the hotel itself is very good and well set out. Large well maintained grounds including the only golf course on the island (9 hole par 3). There are excellent sunbathing areas which never seen over crowded, a very good place to relax and escape from it all. Rooms range from standard well appointed rooms to luxury two story villas with private pools and gardens (at a supplement).
This is a five star hotel, supposed to be the best on the island - not quite up to UK 5 star standards but very enjoyable. Weather in August/September is excellent. Staff very good, they will arrange anything you want - if you have the disposable income available they will arrange a private boat, helicopter or plane to take you around the area.
