| General Information | | Costa Blanca or the white coast as it is better known, is located south of the Valencia region. At it's centre lies Alicante and the airport. Characterised by large beaches and resorts, the most popular being Benidorm. The area also includes numerous small resorts. The middle of July to the end of August sees them at their busiest and hottest, and coupled with an average of eleven hours of sunshine per day makes it a must for all beach and sun worshipers. | Local Food | | Excellent food at reasonable prices make this one of the best tourist areas in Spain for a great holiday. The local beers are as good as you'll find anywhere in the world, and the variety of food on offer, ensures there's always something to take your fancy after a long day out. There are many British and international restaurants to choose form in most resorts. You will find fast food, British breakfasts and even the traditional British roast! But don't leave without trying some taditional Spanish cuisine. 'Tapas' are a wide selection of tasty foods such as 'chorizo' - a spicey sausage, served with bread, 'serrano ham', omlettes, baby casseroles/stews, vegetable/fish fritters etc etc, all designed to accompany drinks and good conversation. |
