General Information
Mijas lies about 20 miles from the airport at Malaga, and is a small village with a wide range of accommodation from small hotels to a few good standard apartment blocks. No beach in the local vicinity, with Fuengirola bay the nearest, but there is an abundance of shops to cater for all your holiday needs. The daytime revolves around touring and the night leaves you with nothing much to do apart from going for a meal
Local Food
Quiet and relaxing restaurants are the order of the day here, with a good choice in local dishes. Albendigos (spicy meatballs), Rabo de Toro (oxtail with onions and spices) and the fish specials Calamari (squid in batter) and Sopa de Pescado (fish stew in garlic and tomatoes) are all worth a try. There are some excellent restaurants in and around the area catering for all tastes. You will find not only some of the best Spanish restaurants and bars but Chinese, Indian, Thai, and Italian, and virtually every other type of restaurant you can imagine. The local beers are very good value as are the many wines on offer, with the obligatory Sangria found everywhere.
