| General Information | | Mojacar lies about 62 miles from the airport on a hilltop location, and roughly 2 miles inland of the beach. A firm favourite with the British holidaymaker, the cobbled streets of the village lead to lots of Arty type shops, although there are enough mini-markets to satisfy all your holiday needs. Plenty of 3 star hotels can be found along the front, with good standard apartment blocks also available. During the day, if your not enjoying the numerous water sports here, there's also a 9 hole golf course, bowling and various cultural pursuits to keep you busy. At night, the village bars are where you'll find a more authentic Spanish evenings entertainment, with music bars and the odd disco confined to the resort centre or the hotels. | Local Food | | Quiet and relaxing restaurants are the order of the day here, with a good choice in local dishes. Albendigos (spicy meatballs), Rabo de Toro (oxtail with onions and spices) and the fish specials Calamari (squid in batter) and Sopa de Pescado (fish stew in garlic and tomatoes) are all worth a try. The local beers are very good value as are the many wines on offer, with the obligatory Sangria found everywhere. You might struggle to find fast food style cooking here, but the version available in the bars and pubs is quite edible. and all served with chips and a great salad. |
