General Information
Spain is widely known for it's Flamenco music and dance, bullfights, fantastic beaches and lots of sunshine. It is, and has been for many years, one of the cultural centers of Europe. It's beautiful cities and towns, offer really old monuments as well as futuristic architecture. The various regions are all different to each other, both in their climate and personality. Most of Spain is hot and sunny in the summer, but there are differences in temperature during the winter months depending on the climatic region. There are three main regions; the north and northwest is the wettest part, with cooler and wetter summers although plenty enough sunshine for everybody's satisfaction. the central region has low rainfall, although during winter there may be a chance of some heavy snow in the mountain ranges. The summers are hot with spring and early summer being the wettest. The Mediterranean coast has mild winters and hot and humid summers. ……….
Local Food
Probably the most popular European holiday destination in the world, the food is as varied as the many different nationalities that have settled here over the years. The most famous tourist dish, Paella, can be found in nearly every bar, hotel and restaurant in the country with other local dishes, Paps con Mojo (unpeeled potatoes cooked in seawater) and Gofio Escaldon (hand rolled balls of maize flour eaten with a dip) well worth a try. In the busiest of tourist resorts, Pizzas, Burger and other fast food outlets ensure all tastes are catered for, and most meals are served with a generous helping of chips and salad. Wines and beers are produced locally and are excellent value, as the imported ones tend to cost more and are sometimes inferior.
