Weather Information Average Temperatures General Information The most beautiful mountain range in Europe, the Dolomites, is probably the biggest ski area in the world. One lift pass (the Dolomiti Superski Pass) is valid for over 450 modern lifts and almost 1200 kms of pistes. The spectacular scenery changes colour as the sun rises and sets. This area has a very relaxed and informal apres-ski atmosphere with many excellent restaurants, bars and cafes. Also popular at the foot of Mont Blanc (Europe highest mountain) lies Courmayeur, with its friendly atmosphere and excellent children's facilities. It is also an ideal resort for intermediate skiers with testing runs and snow cannons providing almost guaranteed snow. The village itself has cobbled streets and a range of bars and restaurants to suit everybody. Sestriere has been chosen to host the 2006 Winter Olympics and is now well and truly an international resort. It is part of the famous 'Milky Way' area providing excellent skiing for all levels of skier, amid spectacular scenery. The apres-ski in Sestriere is lively with bars, discos and a wide range of restaurants and pizzerias.
