A purpose built resort, it has many high class hotels on offer, with some small apartment blocks nearer the centre. The beach is very sandy and provides a good variety of water sports, but the shopping is quite limited with only a large supermarket and a few small tourist shops. At night, there are a couple of bars in the centre and most of the entertainment is provided by the hotels. Food Kalithea's restaurants offer both international and Greek cuisine.Traditional Greek food of Mezedes( a combination of local dishes), Sttifado( local stew) and Souvlaki( kebabs) are all here in abundance. Grilled or fried Squid, Octopus and Chicken, served with a great salad and a sprinkling of Olive oil is a firm favourite as well. In the bars, a taste of home can be provided with Pizzas, Burgers etc. all on the menu, and all served with a generous helping of chips, and the local red and white wines make a fine accompaniment with any meal.
