The latest jewel to be added to the Royal Resort crown is the marvellous Haathi Mahal. It is the fifth development on the beautiful coast of Goa - where Royal has its roots and where Royal Goan Beach Club is a synonym for holidaying in luxury. This outstanding hotel and condominium development is indeed a palace with something catering for every taste. Walk into the entry foyer and you immediately get the feeling of luxury. Look over the swimming pool and you get the feeling of excitement. Haathi Mahal is just 45 minutes from the airport and 25 minutes from the railway station at Margao. It stands proud between the River Sal and the Arabian Sea, which is just a 10-minute walk away. Cavelossim beach is widely regarded as the most beautiful in South Goa. Enjoyed by the finest resorts, the white sand on this palm-fringed beach is sure to give you that truly tropical experience

We have just had a wonderful holiday at the haathi mahal resort
the staff were more than helpful and the management team were excellent
our holiday was only first class because of your attention to detail
it was certainly the most organised and clean resort we visited during our stay in goa

"I HAVE JUST RETURNED FROM THIS HOTEL AND HAD A GREAT TIME. THE BEST PART OF THIS HOTEL IS..."

I HAVE JUST RETURNED FROM THIS HOTEL AND HAD A GREAT TIME. THE BEST PART OF THIS HOTEL IS ITS LOCATION, IT IS ABOUT A 10 MINUTE WALK FROM THE BEACH AND TWO MINUTES TO ALL THE LOCAL RESTURANTS. THE STANDARDS AT THE HOTEL ARE OF QUITE A HIGH STANDARD BUT SOME OF THE ROOMS DO LET THE PROPERTY DOWN. MOST OF THE BATHROOMS ARE A BIT TIRED LOOKING AND SEVERAL OF THE ROOMS ARE NOISEY.WE CHANGED ROOMS THREE TIME EVENTUALLY SETTLING IN A LOVELY ROOM OVERLOOKING THE SMALL CANAL/POOL. THE STAFF ARE VERY FRIENDLY BUT WATCH OUT FOR THE TIME SHARE REP WHO WILL TRY EVERYTHING TO GET YOU TO A MEETING AS THE HOTEL IS SPLIT BETWEEN A HOTEL AND TIMESHARE VILLAS.THE MEALS ARE QUITE GOOD AND THE PRICES ARE CHEAP BUT SLIGHTLY DEARER THAN IN THE VILLAGE. TRY MIKES PLACE, BETTYS AND FISHERMANS WHARF FOR MEALS AS THEY ARE ALL EXCELLANT AND A TWO COURSE MEAL FOR 2 WITH SEVERAL BEERS/VODKAS WILL COST YOU LESS THAN A TENNER BETWEEN 2. THE NEARBY BEACH IS LOVELY BUT YOU ARE A BIT PESTERED BY SELLERS BUT IF YOU SAY A FIRM NO THEY WILL AFTER ABOUT TEN MINS LEAVE YOU ALONE. LOCAL TAXIS ARE THE CHEAPEST IN THE WORLD AND MOST LOCAL JOURNEYS ARE ABOUT A £1. THE WEATHER WAS FANTASTIC BUT THE FOOD IS INDIAN/GOAN/CHINESE WITH VERY LITTLE PLAIN FOOD AVAILABLE EXCEPT CHIPS AND EVENTUALLY YOUR STOMACH STRUGGLES. IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TO GOA THEN YOU WILL BE VERY SURPRISED AT THE PRICES WE SPENT ONLY £300 ON MEALS AND DRINKS BETWEEN 2 OF US FOR 2 WEEKS,EATING OUT EVERY DAY AND USING LOCAL TAXIS. I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYONE TO VISIT THIS RESORT OR HOTEL AND I WILL BE RETURBNING AT CHRISTMAS. (WARRINGTON)

Never done long haul before - but oh boy, am I glad we went to Goa. Long old flight but the Bahrain stop was welcome. The Haathi is spacious, clean, friendly, and the breakfast is wonderful. The staff couldn't do enough for us for the whole of our stay. Our allocated room was huge with a large L shaped balcony overlooking small pool. Went during February - weather was fantastic - very hot sunny (although v humid). Cavelossim very laid back, but enough for us. Eating out was such good value - a meal for 2 consisting of lobster, salad, chips, mixed rice, naan breads, jumbo prawns, several large Kingfisher beers and a couple or six cocktails - under £12!!! Beaches are huge - the only drawback here are the traders - just say a polite NO and they leave you alone, although are still friendly - and they always ask your name and they remember it! Did the waterfall trip - breathtakingly beautiful scenery, crossing rivers in a jeep, great lunch, fed elephants and monkeys, the dolphin trip was OK but overpriced for what it was. Did Old Goa and the temples - fantastic day out. All in all, we loved everything about Goa - and yes, we have booked for 2005 (with the money we brought home it would have been rude not to!!). Oh and girls, if you like a bit of bling - the gold and diamonds are to die for - I got my piece valued at home - valued at more than double the price we paid in Goa. Hope you all have a wonderful time cos we certainly did. Margao is great for shopping too. Oh and you must go to a beach party - normally on Wednesday nights at the beach shacks - eat seafood, drink gallons, watch the fireworks, dance till dawn - great night - everyone so happy and friendly. I could go on and on and on ........ nuff said. (Surrey)
