Description Thassos town also known as Limenas is the main town on the Island of Thassos. Dating back to the 7th century, its city walls were famed for their gold and marble designs. Evidence of this architecture are still in evidence today. The architecture today is traditional with vibrant seasonal bloom on every corner.
There is a small clean sandy beach next to the harbour with more on the outskirts, a particular favourite being Varthy Beach. For the more energetic, why not walk to the top of mount Ipsarion and enjoy the spectacular views of the harbour and surrounding areas.
The resort is bustling with many shops particularly in the port area offering all manner of goods for the shopper. Tavernas bars and restaurants offer both Greek and international cuisine for all pockets. The opportunity to dine alfresco and watch the sun set over the Aegean must be done at least once when visiting Thassos town. The nightlife is vibrant offering music in tavernas or nightclubs for all tastes. The resort may not suit those wishing to have a peaceful quiet evening.
The island of Thassos does not have an airport so transfer times form the nearest airport (Kavala) are around 3 to 4 hours approximately. The journey includes a two hour journey form the airport, 45minute hydrofoil and 20 minute coach journey.
