Description Thassos lies 10 miles from the airport and is a great holiday destination for those looking for a peaceful and relaxing time. The capital, Limenas, has an old harbour in the centre, where some small studio type accommodation can be found. Some of the other villages on the island, namely Potos and Prfkari, are just beach areas with little else to offer bar a relaxing day out. Skala Poamais is very much the same, but it has a few more bars to keep you entertained. The island has it's fair share of rain but it does help give it a lovely green look. The range of accommodation varies from resort areas, although you won't find any luxury hotels here as the majority are family owned. A large amount of marble products are on sale in the gift shops, as the island was famous for it's quarries and it's gold mines. All the beaches tend to be good and sandy, while the night life is limited with the liveliest resort being Limenas.
