Description Skiathos is only 4 miles wide and 7 miles long, with the coast roads in the south and east lined with most of the tourist accommodation, and attractions. In the high season, these can become very crowded, but away from the developed areas, the island is known for it's shady pine, plane, olive and walnut trees. With dozens of sandy beaches housing some of the best water sports in the Aegean, there are also plenty of tavernas near to the small hotels, apartments and studios to keep the predominantly older and family clientele busy for the duration of their holiday.
