Description
Sitia has a population of about 9000 people, and is the easternmost city on Crete and perhaps the least developed. Even during the busy summer peak, Sitia retains a certain charm and laid-back style. Sitia is about 2 - 3 hours from Heraklion by car and is a lively little town where tourism is not a major activity, even though it does have a lovely beach. The sea front has plenty of good restaurants serving excellent Greek food whilst above the city is a Venetian castle where they have concerts
