Singapore is located at the southern most point of mainland Asia and just over 1 degree north of the equator. The population of 3.5 million is predominantly Chinese with the remainder being mainly Malay or Indian. Singapore is hot and humid year-round, with the temperature almost never dropping below 20°C, even at night, and usually climbing to 30°C during the day. Humidity is high, hovering around the 75% mark. Singapore is wettest from November to January and at its driest from May to July - the difference between the two, however, is slight but due to Singapore's proximity to the equator, it is sunny virtually all year round. If you brave the humidity you will find that Singapore is a shoppers paradise and is also recognised as one of the culinary capitals of the world.
