Description The resort of Plataniais forms part of the Platanais valley. The valley, which has a stream running through it for most of the year is pastoral by nature. The valley offers the opportunity to explore it by foot. The beach at Kechria and its monastery can also be reached within two hours on shanks’ pony.
The beach at Platanais, sometimes known as Aghia Paraskevi, shares the vast expanse of sand with the resorts of Kolios Beach and Vromolimnos. Be wary, as this excellent golden beach may not be suitable to families with small children due to its steep shelf. Water sports such as water-skiing, pedalos and water parachuting are on offer to the more adventurous traveller. The sea is crystal clear, and with a backdrop of a beautiful pine hillside it is hardly surprising that some of the most prestigious hotels on the island are located here. Boat trips from the beach are also available. There are many tavernas and bars in the area offering a break from the heat of the day and respite in the evening.The nightlife tends to be traditional Greek entertainment, so be prepared to smash a few plates!!!
Platanais offers a slightly more upmarket option on the Island whilst retaining the inherent Greek charm so prevalent on Skiathos.
This resort is on the east coast of the island. Transfer times are approximately 20 minutes from the airport.
