The beach at Koukounaries is alleged to be the most photographed and popular on the island. It is hardly surprising when you consider that the horseshoe shaped beach is sandwiched between clear blue sea on one side and small pine wooded areas that are a feature of Skiathos on the other. In an attempt to retain the natural beauty of the resort, the local authorities are protecting the resort form being over developed.
For the more active holidaymaker, various water sports are on offer here. If you wish to take a walk away from the beach, there are a number of different tracks though the pines and olive groves.
Once you have achieved an appetite, try one of the local tavernas or restaurants for a fine selection of Greek foods as well as some less local dishes.
Transfer times are approximately 30 minutes from the airport.
