Holland, or the Netherlands as it also commonly known, has a population of approximately 16 million people. The capital city is Amsterdam which is well known for its canal network, bridges, night life and red light district. Amsterdam, well known for its very liberal attitude is extremely popular with tourists and one of the best ways to see the city is by boat on a canal tour. The red light district is situated in the old part of Amsterdam and attracts around 100,000 people a night. For those aged over 18 a trip around the Heineken Brewery, which is now a museum, is recommended. Holland itself is very flat with about 20% of the country below sea level. Other popular areas include Rotterdam, The Hague and some of the coastal resorts.
