In the Northeast of Illinois at the southern tip of Lake Michigan we find the Windy City - Chicago. Well known for its skyscrapers, Sears Tower used to be the tallest in the world. The views from the 103rd floor of Sears Tower and the John Hancock Observatory Skywalk (1000ft above street level) are a must for any visitor to Chicago. Another unusual fact is that more than 50 languages are spoken by the inhabitants of Chicago, which is probably one of the reasons for the copious international cuisine on offer. North Michigan avenue is the place to go if you enjoy shopping or if you just want to see the sights there are Boat tours in all shapes and sizes running day and night. Lincoln Park zoo is also worth a visit, with or without the children. In summer the temperature rise to 30C, however between November and March there are freezing temperatures with heavy snowfalls.
