Cavtat is a small village nestled around a flower-lined harbour and two palm-fringed bays with the blue waves of the Adriatic lapping at its shores. Densely wooded hills smile down on this pretty place and admire its gentle pace of life. People and boat watching from one of the pavement cafes, exploring the cobbled streets of the medieval Old Town and indulging in some sun worship are the general order of events here. Cavtat's beauty has inspired some of Croatia's most renowned artists, including the sculptor Ivan Mestrovic and painter Vlaho Bukovac.
