Description
The town of Alaoir is Menorca`s third largest town and is situated approximately twelve kilometers from the Capital of Mahon. The town was founded by King Juame XI of Mallorca and with its narrow winding streets and white washed houses retains a medieval atmosphere. Wandering through the towns ancient streets you will discover the 17th century churches of Santa Eulalia and San Diego. The church of San Diego has ancient cloisters which have been converted into a courtyard surrounded by modern villas. During the summer months these villas, now known as Pati de sa Lluna hold concerts, workshops and folk dancing. Alaior is famous for the production of Mahon cheese and is the industrial centre for the Menorcan footwear industry. Airport transfer time is approximately 20- 30 minutes
