| Malia lies about 20 miles from the airport of Heraklion and was once an old fishing village. Olive and banana trees stretch almost to the sea front where you will find one of the best beaches on the island. Nearly 3 miles long, the golden sand plays host to a variety of water sports, but for it's size, it still gets quite packed during the high season, which tells you the amount of people that visit this area every year. Every kind of accommodation can be found here from simple studios to high class hotels, and with more than enough shops, offering a range of goods to suit every pocket, you'll always find something to spend on. At night, the endless supply of bars, discos and pubs that lead to the sea front, will ensure there's never a dull moment in this resort. | |
