The West Midlands, often called the 'Heart of England', borders Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire. Although the West Midlands is one of the heavily urbanised areas in the country, surrounding the built-up areas is lush rolling countryside to visit with some delightful villages. Whilst you are here take a day out to see all the tourist attractions in the cities and large towns, often reflecting the industrial heritage that they are based on.In 1986 the seven boroughs became separate authorities - but West Midlands is still a ceremonial county with a Lord Lieutenant.
