You want space, you want peace, you want a touch of real Mediterranean life – you want holidays to San Rafael. Take a handful of villas and scatter them across pine covered hills and olive groves. Arrange a few friendly bars along a couple of winding roads. Finally, throw in some famous ceramics workshops and a smattering of shops. Viola! You have San Rafael. Think Ibiza is just bright lights and big clubs? Admittedly, a lot of it is. But San Rafael holidays are a world away from the thumping dance floors. Here, you find a quiet villa - like Cana Fietona or Can Puxta – and loose yourself in your favourite book, as you lounge by your pool in the suns warmth. Here, the hum of crickets, the gentle buzz of bees and the distant whirring of tractors are the only sounds to disturb you. Here, the stresses of home simply slip away. San Rafaels about half way between Ibiza Town and San Antonio. So if you fancy picking up the pace a bit, an 8 kilometre drive in either direction gets you to Ibizas busier resorts. Theres even the infamous clubs Amnesia or Privilege on the main road outside of San Rafael. Cant face the thought of hustle and bustle? No worries, all you need is here. Simple shops, lovely restaurants and a few bars for an evening out. As for souvenirs, the pottery made here borders on art. See? You wont have to leave your little retreat for anything. One warning about summer holidays in San Rafael – you might just forget to come home again. | |
