| Playa de Las Americas lies about 12 miles from the airport and is the biggest resort on the island and still expanding. The accommodation tends to be made up of mainly apartment blocks, although there are some very good standard hotels to be found here too. A pleasant walk along the promenade leads you to the dark sandy beach that has a multitude of water sports for you to try. The amount of shops here will rival anything you can find in Europe with boutiques, camera and jewellery shops always a big hit. For the more active there's an 18 hole golf course, water-park and tennis, but it's at night that this resort has gained it's somewhat dubious reputation, with so many bars, discos, clubs, floor shows, and that's without the entertainment provided by the hotels, that you wouldn't get round them in a month. |
