Skala Rachoni is a small fishing port to the north of the island of Thassos. Visiting the harbour you will encounter plenty of activity with local fishermen bringing in their hauls of fish. Along the sea front are many fish tavernas and bars. The beaches in the area are sandy and welcoming. Just inland are the lush green villages of Rachoni & Agios Georgios. Sited in between the two villages and sheltered by huge pine trees is the ‘Church of the Assumption’ which has a fresh water spring under it's alter. These two villages offer many tavernas and cafes to pass the time of day away. Small hotels and apartments are available giving the overall feel of a quiet resort, which is best suited to couples or families with small children. The island of Thassos does not have an airport so transfer times form the nearest airport (Kavala) are around 4 hours approximately. The journey includes a two hour journey form the airport, 45minute hydrofoil and 45minute coach journey.
