Sosua is located less than 10 km east from Puerto Plata International Airport it is divided into two areas - Los Charamicos and El Batey. Over the years, the town experienced some small pockets of 'sex tourism' earning the area a bit of a bad reputation. However, In the last few years, Ex pats and others began to clean the area up and invest in it. Now new hotels have been built and tourism has increase. There are many restaurants, bars, activities and 5 different beaches to choose from, but it's Sosua Beach that has the wow factor. This 1/2 km of beach has beautiful soft, white sand, clear turquoise waters, and is situated in a small cove surrounded by beautiful high coral cliffs. Just behind the beach there are plenty of souvenir shops and restaurants. This is also where we would recommend snorkelling and diving
