| 1200 miles off the south-eastern coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean lies Mauritius with a population of just over 1 million people. The capital of Mauritius is Port Louis with its harbour sheltered by mountains. Mauritius is well known for its beautiful beaches and underwater sea life. It is difficult to say which beaches are the nicest but Roches Noires, Poste Lafayette, Belle Mare and Blue bay are all excellent. Very warm all year round with average temperatures rarely dropping below 21C, however there is always the chance of rain particularly between December and April. On the east coast there is usually a sea breeze to cool things down slightly. | |
