| For those of you looking for a more active vibrant location on the Island, Skiathos Town is the place for you. The town is built around two harbours, one is commercial and a second older harbour used by the locals to bring in hauls of fish and tired satisfied tourists on day trips!!!!. The town is protected inland by two hills which offer panoramic views across the bay. A wide selection of shops offer reasonably priced leather goods antiques and all things Greek. Bars, Tavernas and restaurants offer international and Greek dishes and cater for all holiday budgets. For nightlife, traditional Greek entertainment as well as nightclubs are available. Also check out what is on at the open-air theatre.
Megalliamos Beach is located on the outskirts of the town. The texture of the beach is fine sand and light shingle. However, if you are looking for a more picturesque beach to relax on in the day, utilise the local bus services which will take you to a number of resorts only a short distance from your base. Alternatively travel preferably by hire car, to the north of the island to explore the pine ladened hills and experience some of the most stunning cliff top views on offer in the Greek Islands.
Transfer times are approximately 15 minutes from the airport.

It"s a bus to the beach (anyone of 30+ beaches) everytime. Cosmopolitan, very very busy to the point of claustrophobic. Awful place, cant see the popularity of having to bus or drive everywhere..
