Lucerne is located in Central Switzerland, and lies at the foot of the Alps. The town experiences cold winters, and mild springs and summers. If you love outdoor activities in the winter, such as skiing and skating, then Lucerne is a good base to get about. If you go just outside of the town you will find that the mountains are beautiful and just waiting to be explored. If you want to visit in warmer weather though, you will also find that there is great hiking and mountain biking to be done in the area.
