Reminiscent of an old colonial hacienda, this hotel is drop dead gorgeous. Its all whitewashed domes, grand pinnacles and terracotta tiles. Whats more its framed by gently swaying palm trees and ornate courtyard pools. The piece de resistance, however, is the beautiful beachfront setting. The hotel looks out across sparkling blue seas and is tucked right up against a paradise-like white sandy beach. The sun terrace is worth a mention, too. Its the perfect place to relax and do nothing - pick a spot beneath the shade of a parasol, spread your towel over a sunlonger and flick through a magazine. And as the sun rises higher in the sky you may want to take a dip in the swimming pool. And what a pool it is. Not only is there an adjoining whirlpool and a swim up bar, but there are partially submerged sunbeds in the water! And on the subject of beds, the accommodations really rather special. In fact, all Thomson guests stay in plush Junior Suites that come with hydro-massage bath tubs and living areas with TVs and sofas as standard. Food-wise, too, youre in for a treat. Start the day as you mean to go on with a glass of sparkling cava at breakfast before stocking up on an omelette made to order at the on the spot cooking station. Come dinner time there are five gourmet restaurants to choose from serving top notch dishes. This hotel will be Platinum from November 2007.To round off your day, why not head down to the show lounge? As with all Riu hotels the entertainment is second to none. Every night performers don an array of sequined outfits to dazzle you with shows, cabaret and live music. And for an insight into Mexican culture, you simply must see the Mayan show.
